CPR
CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) is a very important part of BLS training courses. In this part, we will teach you how to perform CPR for adults, children, and babies. First, we will show you where to place your hands on the chest, how deep to press, and how fast to carry out compressions.
For adults and children, we place our hands on the centre of the chest, while for babies, we use two fingers just below the nipple line.
We will also explain how to place someone in the recovery position, which helps keep their airway clear. This position helps protect them until help arrives. You will also learn how to call emergency services quickly and understand how doing CPR properly can help save lives.
AED
An AED (Automated External Defibrillator) is a device that helps save lives by treating people with serious heart problems. In BLS practical training, we will teach you how to know when to use an AED and how to use it properly.
You will learn how to place the pads on the chest of both adults and children and how to follow the AED’s instructions. We will also teach you how to continue CPR between shocks, which helps improve the chance of survival. Knowing how to use an AED and giving CPR quickly is very important for saving lives.
Basic First Aid
The First Aid part of BLS hands-on training teaches life-saving skills for different emergencies. You will learn how to assess serious injuries and provide the correct help.
We will cover how to treat wounds, use bandages, and manage broken bones. You will also learn how to help someone who is choking or having an allergic reaction and how to use an epinephrine injector in case of a serious allergic reaction. First Aid skills help you know what to do in emergencies and can save lives.
Choking
Choking is a serious emergency where someone’s airway becomes blocked, and they can’t breathe properly. In this part of the practical BLS training, we will teach you how to recognise the signs of choking, such as coughing, gasping, or unable to speak.
You will learn how to perform the Heimlich manoeuvre (abdominal thrusts) for adults and children to clear the blockage. For infants, we will show you how to give gentle back blows and chest thrusts.
You will also learn how to stay calm and encourage the person to cough if they can. Knowing these steps can help you act quickly and safely in a choking emergency.
